Lead news story on tonight's local news is that the Attorney General is withdrawing case to uphold the ban on same-sex marriage. Apparently "needed time to rethink the case."
Florists, cake bakeries, wedding coordinators, banquet halls... This can only help out our local economy.
It's just a matter of time now.

I think the real money is in same-sex divorce. Divorce was once one of our major industries, after all. It could be again. Legalize the marriage, and then become the mecca for same-sex divorce.

I'm absolutely convinced that the divorce attorney's are one of driving forces behind same-sex marriage. With the marriage rate in this country now down to 50%+, they've lost a lot of potential customers and wouldn't that be a disgrace to have an attorney working at McDonald's to try to make a living!

Nevada is coming in late on a lot of things which I would have thought they would take the lead. Gay marriage, medical marijuana, even online gambling is pathetic since its poker only. So much for being trailblazers.

That was because back in the day, NV had easy/quick divorces, where a lot of the other states made it difficult. The other states have caught up with that, and I'm sure it will apply equally to same-sex marriages as it has for traditional marriages.

Nothing else has been equal thus far. It's been two steps forward and one back since the 1970s. We can grab the page from the old playbook and make "easy" divorces a cottage industry again. Although I don't think the six-month residency requirement would serve much use these days.
