I always wondered what homes would look like up on the mountain tops surrounding LV and Henderson.

That’s some expensive dirt.

Developers of Ascaya, the long-delayed mountain-mansion project in Henderson,
have sold their first lot — a 0.46-acre parcel for $925,000.

The sale closed Friday, property records show, and sales of two other lots
are expected to close soon, listing broker Florence Shapiro said.

Probably like the houses that overlook Lake Mead at Boulder City.

The land alone is more than an average person's house. Must be nice.

Looks like it will be pretty secluded to me. But some people like that and maybe that's the point.

American style hill development! What would you expect!! Flatten it out, then build!

Having traveled over a good part of South/Central America, they do it differently down there, they merely pluck the houses onto the hillsides! And built so they don't wash down the hill during a mudslide!

And, down there, no problem plopping a high rise on top of a hill!

If I could drop a couple million on a house, I'd build it in the center of a big chunk of land outside of town.

Check the air to the west of Sun City Summerlin. Just across 215. That is all Summerlin property way back into the foothills.

Eventually million dollar lots up the hills. And they just about have to do that. It costs a fortune to get utilities up there....aside from the problem of creating buildable lots.

When they allowed Howard Hughes to buy all that land for peanuts, this was the complaint. So he promised that there would be at least a half mile buffer zone away from the mountains. I knew that wouldn't last. Where is the Monkey Wrench Gang when you need them?
