I wonder where all of these misconceptions originated from? I don't live in Las Vegas but I hear most of the things on the list but it's not as bad as it used to be. People outside of Las Vegas are figuring it out. There's more to Las Vegas than hotels and casinos. There's a thriving community out there with so many things to do.

I think somebody -- at some point a long time ago (say...back in the 1950s or 60s) -- must have asked a local which hotel they "lived in" and that has sort of always been a fall-back joke for Las Vegas locals to say about themselves...
