Hi,
I currently reside in Las Vegas, and was interested in throwing a birthday party for friends (approximatly 50 people or so).
I was interested in some sort of lounge area which I could rent out for an evening. Preferably one with a nice city view.
I do understand this would likely be a costly endeavor, but was curious if any of you had any suggestions regarding an optimal venue, or even some tips on planning something like this.
Thank you in advance!

16 at Eastside Cannery might be reasonable. Has a great view.

Voodoo lounge at the Rio might be fun. Great view, and I think they do private parties on the balcony.

I just went to a bachelor party on Friday, and they rented a suite at the Hard Rock. Great views, pool table in the room, etc. Not a lot of money, and would hold that amount of people.

Our anniversary is coming up, and my wife and her friend went to tour some suites yesterday, looking for a place to host 50 people or so. It will be on a Saturday night in June. We are going to have a DJ, bring in our own food and drinks. We needed a space to accommodate that, and didn't want to spend over $700 for the room. We narrowed it down to a few places who met our requirements of over 1700 sqft. She toured the Vista Suite at Mandalay, the Executive Hospitality Suite at Aria, and the Marquise Suite at Platinum.

I called ahead, to make sure tours were available of all 3 rooms. She went to Mandalay and was treated VERY rudely. The concierge had a "couldn't be bothered" attitude and said they hold room tours AT 2:00 M-F by appointment only. It was 1:30, and I had called ahead, and the gentleman on the phone said any time between 1 and 2 would be fine. After 20 minutes, she got a tour of the room. She asked all of the questions needed, and the concierge had little ability to answer. He then called down to the desk and said the Vista Suite wasn't available until mid-July, and was $1800. She called me, and I was at my computer, and could have booked it for the exact day we wanted it in June for $630. Mandalay - Out

She toured the Aria, and it was perfect! Large room, about 1700 sqft, nice layout. Staff was very friendly. They don't allow outside food, though. Plus, to get to the rooms, it's a trek from parking or valet, through the casino. The suite is key-access only, so we would need to have someone at the bottom of the elevators bringing people up. They do have people who will do that on-staff for $50/hour with a guest list, or I could provide a person. Overall, GREAT one-bedroom suite for 50 people at $700/night, but just not quite right for us.

The Platinum, on the other hand, was PERFECT. The staff could not have been more helpful. The concierge basically said, "Tell me what you need, and I'll take it from here". The room is a large 2000 sq ft 2-bedroom with wrap around balconies and strip views. It's a boutique hotel, so no parking, only valet (or park at Tuscany next door and walk over). No key access to the top floors. And for a Saturday night, the rate is only $499 (and, for locals, a little less). She even lowered the rate for additional suites should we have more than a few guests who want to stay over. Food and drinks are fine to bring in, they will even provide ice and wine glasses for us at no charge. SUPER friendly staff, convenient location off-strip. They do say they try to keep parties to 25 people or so, but we told her we had more, and she was ok with that. One caveat there to keep in mind if you're party includes smokers, the entire property is smoke-free, so smokers need to go to the sidewalk. That can be a good or bad thing, depending on if your guests smoke or not.

Hope this helps a little in your decision for your upcoming party!

Thank you all for your replies. We are still in the process of trying to find the right venue. We initially were going to do it at our house, but when we looked at catering, bartenders, entertainment etc, it was too overwhelming. I think renting a nice hotel room would also have some of the same challenges, so we are trying to see if we can rent out a private room at a lounge/bar area. We are hoping to do it in early October. Seems most of the venues are set up for weddings and coporate events, so It has been a little challenging.

Thank you all again for your input!

Check out The Artisan. Call and ask for Missy or Nicole. They have a lounge area that used to be open, but now they use it just for private events. Very nice people there, as well.
