My problem is the utter double-standard Mayweather enjoys. You saw the John Barr interview clips. The boxing spokeswoman in particular just galled me with her callous disregard for reality.

He can strut around town making it rain with $100 bills all he wants. If that what it takes to boost his self esteem, I don't care. I wouldn't take any of his damned money, any more than I'd accept a tip from Ray Rice.

Olbermann is right -- if nobody involved with the sport is going to step up and be responsible, it is up to the public to do it for them. Some things aren't worth it.

I just agree with lvoc that this is a really difficult topic to handle. I'm glad I'll likely never be in a position where I'll have to turn down a $100 bill from Floyd Mayweather. I'm willing to bet that Ray Rice still eats out, and servers still accept his tips. That doesn't make them any less of a human.

I didn't spend any money on any of Tyson's fights, either. Same reason. At least Tyson seems to have turned his life around.
I'm guessing that you do not watch the NFL or NBA for similar reasons?

I don't watch the NBA. But I do watch the NFL. Say what you want about Mike Vick, for instance -- he did his time. He didn't get mollycoddled like Mayweather did.

I have serious problems with what happens at the NFL. But they at least try. Can't say that after watching that Barr piece, right?

I wanted to come up and watch it at a casino viewing party, but from what I've gathered, you have to stay at that hotel Fri and Sat to be eligible to get tickets to their viewing party. That means spending well over $1000 for the package with the crazy high room prices and ticket to the party.

I wonder how much the flight/hotel/dinner with Evander/seat next to Evander in front row auction was at the end..

Edit: Google is my friend. $40,100. Compared to regular ticket prices, not a bad deal.

I'll probably just follow someone's Twitter feed for updates. I'm not much of a boxing fan.
