You get what you pay for, no such thing as a hidden gem. If a place is nicer than average in a high traffic area rent is going to be higher. None of the areas near the Strip are pleasant for walking around in unless you enjoy having friendly conversation with someone who just needs $2 to get on the bus or to buy some food, if you know what I mean. Inside the gates if they have any will be occasional police visits and noise, but nothing out of the ordinary for big city living.

Good thing about the Meridian on Koval/Flamingo apart from the complex being near the Strip/LinQ is that the location is adjacent to the Hughes Center for more dining/entertainment options. Love the new addition at the Hughes Center; Panera Bread, Habit Burger, Jamba Juice, Pieology, Chipotle. There are more dining options at the Hughes Center for those wishing not to deal with the Strip.

I'm right there by the "centre arrow" on EA's map and there are many decent places out this way...despite the East LV bashing it's handy to get to freeways, the Strip, and just about any recreational or service you may need. The free Wetlands Park is also great for bicycling, walking and enjoying the birds & wildlife, and the pool at Hollywood Aquatic Centre has many activities like aquafit and great hours for public swimming.
