Just had one AC kick out...how is that for timing? Luckily we can keep the house livable with a singe unit and actually comfortable at night. New part coming tomorrow. Two guys working on the roof mounted unit and looking quite comfortable in long sleeve shirts and long pants. Amazing.

For a while they were calling 118 on Tuesday and Wednesday but they have backed off.

Darn I want the T shirt..."I was on the strip when it hit 118". Tried a couple of years ago but it petered out well below. Well off to the pool. When all else fails stay wet.

My wife announced that next year she is going to spend 6 weeks during the summer someplace other than here.

I was hoping for the record my first summer in Las Vegas. Oh well. One thing is for sure though. I'll take this heat over the humid mid-80s days they are having back home right now.

The wealthy in Las Vegas have 2 getaway places, one for winter, one for summer.

This is our first summer living in Henderson. Moved here in September from PA. Although I didn't expect it to be this hot in June, it's not that bad! In PA, 85 degrees with humidity is much worse than the 112 it was today.

Back in PA my husband would have the AC running from April until October at about 66 degrees 24/7. Over the last couple of days, we had the patio doors open until about 4:00 in the afternoon when the sun would start hitting the apartment. That amazes me!

Yes if you are in the sun it is hot as blazes but step into the shade and it's actually nice!

I've acclimated to the desert southwest so this is just summer weather to me. Doesn't phase me really and I kind of love it, but I'm going to be freezing this first summer back in Oregon with temps in the 70's and 80's.

I'm a true blue born and raise Texas Barbie doll. I prefer fire over ice.

It was 121 by my house (near where 123 was recorded last year) Saturday.

It was 118 in a few parts of town today. I expect to see 122-124 on Tuesday.

Sure, from an car thermometer, or whathaveyou. These temps are not official and are skewed by conductive heat from metal, pavement, concrete - anything radiating heat and increasing the temperature reading. That's why official weather stations (McCarran International Airport, Henderson Executive Airport) temperature sensors are mounted in wooden structures painted white, elevated above the ground and surrounded by grass (most times) so as to give the most accurate air temperature, with much less contamination from heat radiative sources.
