I'm thinking of relocating from Cleveland to LV later this year. Looking to rent a 2 bed/2 bath in a nice neighborhood under $1,400 a month that includes as many utilities as possible, particularly electric. Can anyone suggest such a place? Thank you.

Good luck with that! The only places I know of that include utilities are senior low income housing and weekly rentals. Most of the weekly rental places are not in areas where you want to live. Most of us would probably like to set the AC on 70 all summer while the landlord paid the bill!

And this matters, why?

In point of fact, where I've seen utilities included in rent, it's not a matter of policy. It's in older buildings that were built back when it was somewhat customary for utilities to be included. Mostly this was in prewar buildings. Since you're from Cleveland, this is something you still might see.

Basically nothing in Vegas is prewar. Most of Vegas was built after 1970 or so. So pretty much everything was built in a way that tenants could functionally establish their own utility accounts and pay directly.

Apparently there is some subsidized senior citizen housing in metro Vegas, but I get the feeling very little, and that it rarely becomes available. If you're planning to move to Vegas, budget for a privately owned, free market rent apartment where you'll be paying your own utilities. On the plus side, you probably can get something like this below your budget, so that you can afford it even paying utilities.

Utilities generally aren't expensive here.

I would personally much rather be billed based on MY usage (I am single) usage instead of being included in a pool that would include higher usage units (families ect).

Plenty of rentals fit your budget. You can find a 2 bdrm 2 bath house for $1100/month and you could leave the remaining 300 for gas/water/electricity. Most landlords will keep the sewer/trash in their name and charge you on those utilities in addition to the rent, or they just price it into the rental rate.

Senior apartments will have better prices as some are subsidizes by the government.

Is it hard to get a "low income" rent price because they assume you can't pay? Even though my credit score is 800+?

There are income limits based on your household size. I think for one person it's max 26k/yr income.

If there is availability you shouldn't have trouble getting in. There are often waiting lists for low income housing in the better parts of town.

Me too. And get balanced billing so I'm not hit with the high summer bills.
