Anyone have their polybutylene piping replaced recently?

What did you go with and how much did it cost?

I'm looking at replacing the entire house, have been quoted $4,000 not including drywall repairs, so no idea how much that will cost on top.

I can't believe this expletive suggested there was nothing wrong with PB piping. If only I had a time machine, I would
go back & knock some sense into them.

My copper pipe just sprung a leak, so wouldnt be going in that direction, I dont know anything about pex, but either get it done, or have great homeowners insurance.... (like an idiot I'd just cancelled mine and had forgotten to find an alternative)....

Once a copper pipe especially a hot water line breaks, it would we wise to bypass it and use PEX. If you going to cut holes on the wall, it may also be wise to do the cold water also since you are in there already and your are going to future proof it. Bypass hot water is about $2500-$3000. Fixing the walls later all depends on how many holes you put it.

Bob Vila has a great tutorial on PEX, worth a look if anyone is considering having work done.

I'm curious if you're honestly struggling to understand what I wrote. Genuine question.
