Out of 8 million visitors a year at Lake Mead there are always 15 or 20 deaths. Not bad statistically, but could be lower if people knew what they were doing and had more respect for mother nature.

That's scary... Glad I read this, cause I can pound some booze occasionally... I don't think I really want to drink all that often in the summer when I move there. If I do, I'll be pounding equal amounts of water with it. =)

I know right? More like a shot of absinthe, with a mountain dew chaser... and a glass of water shortly afterwords

You don't have to chase with water. That would be silly.

Just stay hydrated and you can go on with your drunken merriment as usual.

Don't forget that you will undoubtably be going up in the mountains too, and high altitudes tend to dehydrate you and give you altitude sickness unless you hyperhydrate. The alcohol dehydration thing is even more of a factor in the mountains.
