Southeast. No air traffic on that axis. Arrivals come in from straight east an the Northeast. Departures go south (over I-15) and Southwest (diagonally over the I-15.) You want to be east of the strip and south of the airport.

As for arrivals, I see jets on approach virtually every night flying pretty much right over my house, and I'm in Scotch 80s (NNW of the airport). They're low enough to identify the airline, most of the time.

You can go to the airport site...dig around a little and see the approach patterns.
Basically though the south side is the place if you are in close.
And of hand I cannot imagine an approach over the Scotch 80s. Even after looking at the approach patterns. Just no way to land coming in from that direction.
