I have four children - ages 6,5,2 and 6 months. For the past two years, we have used Fremont Children's Clinic on Durango as our pediatrician. The doctors and staff are very nice, and getting an appointment is no problem, but I have some concerns. My two oldest children keep developing pneumonia - they have been on antibiotics five times since September, and one has been hospitalized. I have bought new mattresses, gone through countless bottles of Lysol, gotten new plates, cups, etc. - no help. I have tried herbal immune treatments, vitamins - no help. The doctors at FCC just keep prescribing antibiotics and very strong asthma medicines that they are supposed to take forever. These drugs have very serious side effects for growing children, and I am trying to find a pediatrician that might have a new approach besides just dumping medicines on them. I realize that this is going to be the norm, but does anyone know of an "abnormal" pediatrician that might take the time to delve deeper and find a real solution for my children? Maybe someone not such a fan of these steroidal medicines that are going to destroy their bodies? Any advice would be most appreciated!

Dr. Nishihara is thorough and may delve deeper than your other pediatrician. We have been using him for 2 years now and are very happy. I have a 4 y/o and a 2 y/o. He is located in Summerlin at Summerlin Medical Center Suite 200, his number is 702-436-7337. His appointments are always on time, and if you are more than 10 minutes late then he reschedules your appointment. I am always in and out in 30 minutes!

Good Luck!

And he's on both of my insurances! Thank you!

I take my kids to the same clinic. My two girls see Dr. De simone ,
My son, I have Dr. Lisa Miller take care of him......she is the only one I will let touch him...tehehe For the first few months, he had terrible stomach problems.....refux, constipation, gas...ect it was terrible, and we went through several different formulas and other remedies to finally get it under control. I am greatful to have her. Any other DOC would have stuck him on medication for the reflux. She's persistant and she really validates my concerns and makes me feel comfortable. I dont know if thats who you see already. If not, maybe request her to do check ups on your kids before removing them from the clinic. Its a great clinic.....I moved to the NW a few months ago and theres a Fremont clinic just a half a mile from me, but I still make the trip to SW, so I can keep my kids there. Its a good deal for all of us!!

That many episodes of pediatric pneumonia may require an evaluation by a pediatric pulmonologist. A lot of red flags have gone off in my head based on what you have said regarding a lack of a work-up. This is JMO.

Dr. Nishihara has his own clinic called Meadows Pediatrics which is at Summerlin Medical Center. He is the only DR in that clinic. My friends newborn contracted RSV last week and had to spend an entire week in the hospital. She was thankful that she had chosen him as her pediatrician because he was very thorough. He even wipes down the entire hospital room to disinfect it! Good luck, and I hope you are happy with whichever decision you make!

I really like Dr. Miller also! I found her about 9 months ago, and will not see another doctor. I called this morning to make an appointment for my son, and she is no longer at Fremont... do you know where she has gone to? I tried searching, but only Fremon information came up. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm sorry, I haven't been to Dr. Miller since January, although I regret having left. I have been trying Wee Care Pediatrics, but am less happy there than with Dr. Miller. If you find her, please let me know!

Try Foothills Pediatrics; I love Dr. Moore, and Dr. Conti is good as well. They have offices all over the place; phone 614-5437. I have 2 kids, one a preemie, now toddler, with respiratory issues and growth issues, and an older son with neurological issues. They are awesome, and I am extremely picky, having been through many doctors and specialists, and see all kinds, with my oldest (who is 11).

Best of luck to you! Keep hunting until you figure it out. It's not normal for kids to be sick like that!

I have called Foothills in the past, but unfortunately, they won't bill my secondary insurance, even though they are a provider on the insurance, so I would prefer one that does. After seeing Dr. Patamasacon (sp) here in Vegas, he did many tests, and found that my oldest son had extremely enlarged adenoids, so we took him to a ENT surgeon and had them removed in April. Both sons are doing much better since then. I would still love to find Dr. Miller, as I am completely disillusioned with Wee Care. Anyone with current contact info on Dr. Lisa Miller, please let me know!
