Hello everyone, I currently live in New York but am completley miserable with my current job and really want a change of scenery. I am a 23 year old male and am looking to move to Vegas by the end of the summer. I really would like to get involved with a sportsbook and work my way up the ladder. I have been to Vegas once a few weeks ago and feel like it could be for me. I would also be looking for a 1 bedroom apartment in a decent area. Any suggestions? Also who would I contact regarding moving my car, clothes and belongings? Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated especially concerining a job and apartment. Thanks alot.

make sure you have enough money to live for at LEAST 6 mos and preferably one year....jobs in LV are NEARLY non existant....sports book jobs are even harder since they dont have a lot of movement....

IF you have a TON of SB experience you MAY have a tiny chance...without it....nope.

Entry-level sports book jobs at small, locals-type casinos (which are probably the only places you might have a shot at landing a job) pay only slightly above minimum wage, plus occasional tips. There also is a ton of competition for these positions.

Your enthusiasm is commendable, but be prepared for some disappointments in your job search, even if you know you're qualified. The numbers game out here is difficult to beat. It can be beaten, but it's tough.

Good luck.

Thanks for the response I appreciate it. Do you have any contacts for a sportsbook that I could apply too?

You'll probably want to research much of this yourself, but I would concentrate on small casinos - Jerry's Nugget in North Las Vegas, maybe the Eldorado or Joker's Wild in Henderson. Even the big chains that don't have a Strip presence - like Station Casinos - will be overwhelmed with candidates who have previous sports book experience.

I wouldn't bother to apply until you're physically here, though. If they're interested in you, they'll want to interview you in person and you'll probably have to take a drug test.

I hope it works out for you.

The casino sports book success ladder is about two steps to the top. And there is no money in it. But its a great place to start and then move on to a different dept.

Let me get this straight...you've been to Las Vegas just once in your 23 years for only a week...and you're ready to move there lock, stock and barrel because you hate your job? Did you even venture off The Strip while you were there? Think hard about this.

You can fill out applications online to just about all our hotels/casinos here in town. Good place to start and you never know till you've tried!

Best of Luck!

Thank you for the responses from everyone. You only live once and I would want to get involved with something that I love (sports) as opposed to doing something I dont enjoy the rest of my life. I know its a gamble that is stacked against me, but at least I will know I gave it a shot.
