I've already be a permanent resident for 10 years and my green card expired in December and they told me you can't apply for a renewal more than 6 months in advance. Well, I applied in the middle of October, I did the fingerprinting and photo in December but no green card yet? I called the number and they told me there is no max time limit, it just comes whenever. So how long did it take other people?
Last time my wife did the renewal online and we paid online. A letter came in the mail less than a month later indicating she needed to show up at such and such a date for fingerprinting "biometrics" and the new card came less than a month later.
After my 2 year GC I applied for the 10 year and I got a letter telling me, it can take up to a year until I get the new GC. It said I should take the letter everywhere I go, it counts as GC. When i called and asked how much longer they need, they sent it a week later, sort of apologizing.
I would call and get on their nerves, maybe they hurry a little.
