Depends on what they study. Sciences, MBAs (from top schools, not crappy ones) grads that I know got jobs and were sponsored for green card on EB-2 quite easily.
Of course if they came to study an MBA in a middle-of-the-pack school, or a phoney masters, that won't happen.
I am not talking about phoney ones, foreign students are issued F-1 visas by US embassies for recognised universities only. Say universities like Texas Tech or LSU, Oklahoma state etc. For foreign students, its a wastage of time and money to come to United States for higher studies.

I think he meant phoney in the sense of useless/paper to hang on a wall such as business administration ... Somehow only the ones who do not make it consider their US education a waste of time and money. Plenty of others find jobs and stay.
Number of students who do not make it has increased a lot. Thats why now many people think it as a waste of money and time. People will not think on that line 10-15 years ago.
