Hi everyone,
I currently live in the Pocono area and am looking to move to the Lehigh Valley area. I am looking for an older home and a town that has a nice shopping area and charm. We need to commute to NJ and NY, so we need to be within a reasonable amount of distance to NJ. Any recommendations? Thanks!

A town or small city? Without kids and schools to worry about I think Bethlehem is a nice small liveable city and so is Easton. Emmaus and Hellertown are nice towns. I love my adopted hometown of Coopersburg but the Main street itself is nothing to brag about. I'd say a road trip would be a good idea.

We just bought a house in Palmer Township, a suburb of Easton. Our house was built in 1926.

I really love it here.

if you want to comute to nj with a historic home and shopping nearby, then I'd look at quakertown, hellertown, bethelehm, palmerton, or easton.

coopersburg has older homes and is a nice don't blink or you'll miss it (very small) kinda town. but there's not much shopping there.

bethlehem has a wonderful historic section and nice shops there too. but it's a little further from nj than some of the other towns but still reasonable.

emmaus is a great town, but not alot of historic homes there. also further than I'd want if I was looking to commute into NJ. but if emmaus isn't too far from you macungie is a great little town too.

How about Jim Thorpe? Or is that too close to where you are now?

I've been looking in that area as well. So Far, I like Bethlehem. It has a little of everything.

I'd say Lansdale, Quakertown, Coopersburg, Hellertown or the outskirts of Allentown

Ok I started thinking about that word you used "cute".......
I am thinking that Nazareth or Bethlehem are cute............
Behtlehem is kind of spread in a few directions, so look at a good map.
Some areas are cozy and comforting......if that is what you'd like
Quakertown.........yes, but.......I'm thinking a bit further then you are interested in???
