Looking to get my son in a half day Junior kindergarten or possibly full day junior kindergarten. Our school district (Saucon valley) recently switched from half day to full day. Any options in the area? I've researched Cambridge school, and Red Door Early Learning Center. Any thoughts on those or others in the area?

Look at a Catholic school. If you're in Saucon Valley, St. Therese is probably the closest.

I'm not sure why you are asking for options. Why not just go with Saucon's full day? The majority of school districts in PA have full day now for very good reasons and the ones that haven't switched are doing so because it's a big expense. It makes quite a difference in a first school experience for kids. Finally, the teachers have time to teach everything they need to and can do it in a slower, more enjoyable pace.

Agree, I'm not sure why you would want half day, when full is offered, but OP, the Goddard in Bethlehem Township also does Kindergarten (and the parents who send their kids there love it).

I think Red Door does K (they do have Pre-K) and are in your area as well.

Our child has a birthday that is on the fence between pre-K and full kindergarten. So we are looking at options to transition him in to full day. A half day kindergarten or half day pre-K would be ideal.

Thanks for the options we have looked at both of those as possibilities.

Is goodard more of a day care than a school?

You mean like an August 29th birthday? Ask any teacher and they'll tell you to sit it out if you have any doubts. Plenty of time to be in school, no need to start early!

Goddard is a day care (I think their age range is 6 weeks to 6 years), but they do offer a certified kindergarten and the pre-school does have some teaching (I don't know if it's more or less than other pre-schools).

The main advantage of Goddard is that you can drop your kids off before regular school hours and pick them up after.
