Hi, I am moving from Cambridge MA to Cambridge UK for a year and will be on a very small budget. Any recommendations in regards to renting apartments, sublets - good sites to look for those? Also, I imagine it is most expensive to live close to the university - what are some of the cheaper but still nice and relatively close neighborhoods? Any suggestions would be very helpful!!
Thanks so much, Ema
Cambridge is lovely. Look at rightmove.co.uk and use google maps to look at areas. Anything in the city is great - its all very safe and nice (and also quite expensive). You could also use the university (as suggested above) if you are studying there as they probably publish a housing list annually for students.
Cambridge is one of the most expensive places to buy in the UK, and with so many students to compete with, not that cheap to rent. Do you have a connection to one of the colleges? They own much of the housing stock and land. If you can rent in the centre then pretty much everything is walkable, or cycleable.
