Please help out a couple of London Newbs,

We are visiting London for the first time next month and would like to save money by purchasing food in grocery stores rather than in Restaurants.

Our first stop is 177 Balham High Road, Balham, London, SW129BX

Where are the grocery stores near there?

Our second stop is:
A13 Coriander Avenue, Docklands, London, E142AA
World Science Fiction Convention

Where are the grocery stores near there?

Our post convention hotel is:
231-237 Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green, London, E20EL

Grocery stores near there?

There be will plenty of options for you in the areas you listed. Buying food in grocery stores is a wise option and will save you a great deal of money.

Balham High Road- There is a large Sainsburys as well as a Waitrose ( an upscale grocery store) a short walk from the tube station. Both options have nice ready meal sections and when you can pick up sandwiches and other items on the go.

Docklands- I'm not exactly sure what is around that area, but there is bound to be a Tesco Express or Sainsbury's Local (smaller versions of the larger full service supermarket) or something around the area for grocery shopping.

Bethnal Green- Again I can't say exactly as I haven't been to that area in awhile, but there will definitely be some type of Tesco Express or Sainsbury Local perhaps even a Morrisons.

Other places for quality, inexpensive food would be places such as Pret a Manger and Eat, which sell freshly made sandwiches, soups, salads, drinks and coffees. This will also provide another fairly inexpensive alternative to restaurants.

There is a Costcutter right by your hotel in the Docklands. Not a huge selection, but good for picking up a couple items along with beer and wine.
