I was looking over the form for alterations minor in character and it seems like you need so much when doing so little.
I have a large amount of termite damage on the front wall of my house (yes structural) - was wondering what part of the permit requirements I need to have this fixed? The contractor says he would build a temporary wall to replace a sill - the rest would just have sister'ed up studs (a new stud mated next to original).
Do I really need architectural drawings for this? Why do they need an entire floor plan and such of my house? We're talking possibly a couple thousand just for the drawings - could end up more than the entire job!
thats what im debating - but we have a current open violation on the house, wont mention what it is right now. Inspector needs to come in at some point regardless. I wanted to do a lot of work to the house and inspector is stressing that they will give me time to do the work before they come to inspect...kind of in a catch 22 right now. I did want to remove certain walls that are load bearing and properly support them, but not now...this damage was noticed when I went to winterize my home by removing sheetrock and old insulation.
So you need to rip down the entire front wall of your house and rebuild? Do you need to work from the outside? I would just do that work and then correct your violation and have the inspector in. I seriously doubt, if you don't make any footprint changes to the house, that he will notice that.
If you need someone to do plans for you for your violation, shoot me a DM. I know a guy who is well know in TOH and can help you out.
I am in town of hempstead by the way...got your dm, just cant respond
