how much pay would justify driving 20 miles with a commute time of about 45minutes (one way), the job is offering $70k/yr

45 minutes is an average commute time for the LI/NYC metro area, so I'd say it's worth it.

My drive is 15 miles and takes 25 min. At 5am and 130pm. Your commute doesn't sound terrible.

I agree. If you get a quick 15 minute commute it's usually just sheer luck on Long Island.

Depends on how old you are, where you are in your career, and what your life situation is.

For the most part that commute isn't anything outrageous by LI standards and 10 years ago I'd have been thrilled by the prospect myself.
