Verizon Fios sued Cablevision so they can get MSG HD. Cablevision offers News 12/Traffic & Weather channles tailored to Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk, parts of NJ it serves. At the same time, Cablevision offers News 12 to small pocket areas where Time Warner or Comcast run service. Cablevision offered MSG HD to Time Warner and Comcast whom by the way offers NY 1 to the few minor areas in the city Cablevision serves.
Verizon sued to get MSG HD because Cablevision offered that service to the other cable companies. Why doesn't Verizon try again and sue to get News 12 for all the markets they serve?
Probably because nobody gives a flying poopy about News12.
I would however like to see a network featuring Elisa DiStefano, Lily Stolzberg, and Christine Insinga 24/7.
Fios local is pretty useless especially since Westchester doesn't have it and when friends in LI i know say it is crap. Don't know what you are talking about since News 12 gives 24/7 Weather and Traffic. But guess you don't have a job.
The local Fios news channel isn't that bad. They are trying really hard to be News 12. When it first went on the air it definitely seemed like it was being produced in a basement by college kids but the programming and production got better and better over the last few years. I've been back with cable since August so I don't know what's going on with Fios 1 anymore.

News 12 sucks. Cablevision tried to make the case that we'd lose News 12 if we left them, all they did was give us another reason to leave
Lancet is right, though, News 12 is regional (like Cablevision) so Verizon (which is national) has little to gain from engaging in a big legal battle for a small fraction of their customers.
