This is a question for those who have recently (in the past year or two) added an in-ground swimming pool (vinyl liner, NOT gunite!).

Approximately how much did your property taxes increase as a result of the pool, and what Long Island township do you live in?

(see my thread on removing an in-ground pool for the reason why I am asking )

Thanks!

Pools are like boats. Great if someone invites into or onto it.

Under pressure from the wife and kids (mostly wife), I relented and put in a pool about eight years ago.

Biggest mistake I ever made. Leaches cash like a big green monster. On top of that, as the kids get older, they use it less and less.

Though, it is pretty to look at on a day where the temps climb into the '90 w/100% humidity.

If given a choice, get a boat. At least you can always sell the boat.

Can someone please just answer the OP's question w/out the dissertations on why they love/hate their pool? There are 400threads on that already. Pools are like abortions or guns. If you don't want one, don't get one. If you got one and are unhappy, get rid of it.

LOL, no I don't feed them either. But, with respect to the OP, my taxes increased 3.5%.

I think we're looking at relo in the foreseeable future, so I think it would be best left as is, otherwise I'd join you with the planter idea.

My installer did an ok job, but I realize now I should have been much more demanding regarding placement and type of plumbing used. As it was, we butted heads quite a bit during the construction.

The thread is over 5 years old. The only question we should be asking is why it was revived just so someone could make a snarky comment.

Mods really need to start locking up the old detritus.
