We are thinking about moving to PW and looking around for houses. We just met one which is almost perfect, but it has a sloped driveway. The garage is lower than the street so the driveway sloped into the house. And there is only a thin wall seperating the garage from the basement.
We don't quite like sloped driveway and wondering if we can fill up the driveway to make it flat at street level and convert the garage to be part of the basement. I'm wondering if anyone has done this before. Can someone give a rough idea how much it gonna be? I believe some kind of permit needs to be approved. Does anyone know if this is allowed in PW?
Also, given the fact the driveway is sloped into the house, is there something else we need to worry about? I heard that the foundation of the house might be in trouble due to possible flooding. Is this true? Can this be found out during inspection process?
