After this winter my blacktop asphalt driveway is shot. Chunks are coming out. I assume it cannot be just paved over. We had someone who specializes in concrete and pavers in last night. It was a very expensive proposition considering the size of my driveway.
He said even though concrete lasts longer we may want to go the asphalt route to save money. He mentioned digging up the driveway, putting a new base and then pouring. It would seem we have tree routes under the driveway from a tree that was knocked down long before we purchased the house. He said whoever does the job needs to dig those up so make sure whoever we pick does this as well as lay a solid base and at least 2" of asphalt.
Can anyone recommend a reputable company in the NW Suffolk area? I am seeing a lot of names on the BBB site. One prevalent company in the area is called Black Ice Paving but they are not listed in the BBB. We have a very large driveway. I think the guy measured just over 20' wide by around 60' long so we know it will be an expensive job and do not want to waste our money.
I have a 100x8 ft asphalt drive on a hill and had it re surfaced once in 40 years it's now time to have it done again the best thing is we use rock salt after clearing the show to melt way remaining ice and snow cement would have pitted away long ago,$1500 was the cost approx 20 years ago so I guess at least triple that today??
Have 2 quotes in hand. Getting a 3rd tomorrow. We have roughly a 22' X 60' driveway. We have quotes from East End Paving and Pioneer. Waiting for one more. We currently have Belgian Blocks so both companies said they would remove and clean up blocks and add a few more. Digging down 6 inches and using 2 inches of asphalt will run roughly $4500-$5000
