What's the best LI university/college basketball team?
Any of them playing on a decent league? Even if the local team isn't too good, if they played in a league where one could see future pro players in visiting teams, it would be quite neat.
We went to see Adelphi once and while it was fun for just 5 bucks, the NE-10 league is not what I would call a great league...

You might try St John's (about 10 miles from Adelphi) as they frequently play Big East opponents in Queens.
And S.I.B, there's always another season... ;-) It actually came to my mind now because of the upcoming March madness. I follow the NBA and some Euroleague basketball, but the NCAA is kind of mystery to me... more than 30 different leagues inside Division I alone!!! That's pretty crazy...
St. John's is the only legitimate local program that will routinely play against top level competition. They haven't been doing very well as of late. Check out the Big East Tournament this year to see some NCAA action.

Others are right about St. John’s. I believe Adelphi has a losing record too.
Syracuse is the only other option in the state in terms of watching future pros on a regular basis given that they are in the ACC. It(the city/area) also happens to have the best NE-10 men’s basketball program this year in Le Moyne College, but it is NCAA Division 2(less likely to have future pros).
Siena College in the Albany area, St. Bonaventure next to Olean and maybe the D1’s in the Buffalo area(UB, Canisius and Niagara) get or may get a team or two with a future pro on it.

St John's would be the way to go, especially if it isn't too far of a ride.
St. John's is currently ranked 82 with Hostra at 108.
My oldest attended SBU and heads to their games from time to time. The program was improving under Coach Pikell, who was offered a crazy sum to head the Rutgers program a few years ago. Both Rutgers and SBU are ranked in the low 200's with Rutgers ahead of SBU.
