I remember being snowed in at my aunt's on Christmas years ago. We had 3' Christmas day. People tried to leave and didn't get to the end of the road. The movers claim they will not cancel, but... Yeah right!
The annoying part is not confirming until that morning, having to pack anyway, and not having extra food on hand at all due to the move. I may go buy some now anyway, because the fridge and pantry are so bare and with nothing to cook in.
Why is every blizzard touted as "historic" by the media? Must they really create mass hysteria for ratings?
Like we've never had a foot or 2 of snow here before.
Morons.
You know, we already pay for cable but still have to sit through commercials and ads. Are these guys after ratings or just people to tune in to watch their commercials?
Having been an emergency worker for Sandy, I will say that I would rather have the masses over prepared than underprepared. I had a man from Freeport arrive at Nassau Community College with nothing other than his dog a bathing suit and flip flops ( yes he was an idiot) but, when questioned, he said he had heard it all before and was always safe. The Freeport Fire Dept came with an aerial ladder and put it up to his second floor window to get him out, as the water was 5 feet high on his first floor.
The shelters were filled with people who never thought it would happen to them. Don't be foolish. Prepare and thank your lucky stars if the predictions are incorrect.
Propane, canned goods and blankets. None ever go to waste.
