I always thought Westbury was a nice area. Every town has a bad side. I'm glad there wont be a casino in the source mall.

Agreed! I live in NHP, specifically Manhasset Hills area, and i see predominately Asians and Italians. I know Herricks HS is mixed but from reading the school and town paper that gets delivered, i sense a large Hindu crowd- which is very different from Muslim.

That's how ghettos form. It's a shame, really. Because Port Jeff Station gets such a bad rap as an entire town, but it's only the area from the tracks to 347 that stinks. Everything else in that town is nice.
The transients hike up the bike path and some hunker down by the back of the old Lawrence Aviation property. Plenty of 3V people think the path is so 'lovely' and 'wonderful' and think nothing of strolling along. Once it was completed to that sketchy part of PJS, I scratched my head wondering why would they place a pathway from the 'barrio-in-training' to Setauket?

I had a bunch of 'day laborer' types run out in front of my car as I was on Old Town. They looked like they were running from something. A few had backpacks stuffed full on their backs.

Unrelated to that event, on March 22, skeletal human remains were found in the section between Gnarled Hollow and Old Town. Who knows if it was a hapless homeless soul, or someone whose demise was brought about by foul play?

While sitting in my car waiting for the train gate to lift, I have seen drug deals take place right outside Nunez Barber Shop in PJ. Broad daylight and these guys weren't making any effort to conceal their transaction.
