I am thinking getting a beginner version for hubby's birthday. I am not going crazy on that. Prob somewhere below $100. Any recommendation?

what is the drone law in Nassau county now? I kept hearing restriction on flying drone but I can't find anything online.

New York Assembly Bill 6541 (Senate Bill 4839)*prohibits drone operation without a warrant and places limits on data retention of drone-collected data.*

That means no drone at all for leisure?

Ummmm...

"New York Assembly Bill 6370 (Senate Bill 4537) prohibits use of a drone without a warrant except in cases of emergency. The law allows for recreational or hobby drone flight."

That law is for Law Enforcement... Hobby use is just fine. Just use common sense, stay away from crowds and commercial airspace (airports).

For 100 dollars it is more a remote controlled quad than a drone ... It is still cool though...
