If money and NYC commute were not a factor, would you prefer to live in Sands Point, Locust Valley, Lattington, Old Westbury, or somewhere else in Nassau County? No further east than Oyster Bay. No further south than Old Westbury. No further west than Sands Point/Manhasset peninsula.
What are the pros and cons of each area? What is the stereotypical person like from each area? Are some areas more flashy, are some areas easier to do normal shopping, etc?
I am somewhat familiar with each, but would love to hear some more opinions! I love the idea of Sands Point being so close to the water, but it’s also fairly removed from the rest of LI, so not sure if that would be annoying.
Lattingtown. The idea of driving miles to get that one ingredient I forgot has never appealed to me. Servants to do that dirty work? Kings Point, Cove Neck.
Old Westbury for me hands down. While you don't have to commute for work- you still need to get elsewhere and OW is a snap to get to the LIE or Parkways. Old Westbury has the shopping center on Northern Blvd and Glen Cove Road, Kitchen Kabaret and Holiday Farms on Glen Cove Road.
I like Locust Valley but it feels remote. Would not live there. And there's not really a neighborhood feel in some of these North Shore communities.
Parts of Garden City are underrated. I like being able to walk the sidewalks of my neighborhood and get to know the neighbors.
Agree. If money were no object I would buy a $4m+ home on the hill in Garden City. Safe, secluded, large enough lot, but still close enough to all conveniences.
