I have an uncontested divorce that I filed over 6 months ago. The judge hasn't signed off on it yet. Has anyone filed and received within the last year? How long did it take?

Family Court is understaffed and overworked.

Yeah, I was pretty much told as much when I put all the paperwork in. I was told 4-6 months. Maybe they said 46 months? lol.

Twenty five years ago my attorney deliberately put my uncontested divorce through the courts in NYC. Suffolk's courts were notoriously slow even back then.

Yes it does take that long. They are understaffed. Like one or two full time employees reviewing every uncontested divorce package and QDRO before sending to the Judge for signature.

Your post said its been over six months and you wondered if it should take that long "over six months"; I said yes. To be more specific, it can take up to 9, although they usually get pretty close to the six month estimate.

If you want to check every few days to see if its been signed, google "suffolk county clerk kiosk" and go to searches, court minutes and then search by name or index number.

Thank you. Never actually asked it it took over 6 months. I was looking to see if there were others in the same situation and how long it took, but thank you anyway. I am using e-track and check every day. It's the same feeling as scratching off a lottery ticket. No winners so far.

if you have free time weekdays between 930-1230 and 215-430;stop in central islip with your index number and ask the clerk to check up on the status. They may be able to give you more detailed information than the web.
