Like I said, I understand the general meaning and that they can be found in a lot of places. I'd just never seen it until house hunting on LI. Was curious if LI has a specific regional story to it. Seems not.

they are just a trendy design right now. if they are red,white and blue it usually means somebody in the family is off at war. other things are it is the symbol for sailors throughout time

I'm thinking you could probably find one in a store perhaps a 'country' style store (there's one on 107 in Seaford but the name escapes me). Amazon has some, too.

Yard sales. They were big ten or fifteen years ago, now they're fading fast. Probably thousands in people's garages and basements gathering dust waiting for you to buy one.
