Heard that the town of North Hempstead doesn't require an egress window anymore in finishing a basement..Anyone have any updates?

Even if they don't require it, you should get them. Trust me, it makes a world of difference. Letting in natural light totally transforms the space to where it doesn't feel like a "basement."

Forget the light, how about the peace of mind of having another way out!

I don't know the date of this however, check page 7. It clearly states it is required. I took this from the current pages of the TNH website.

I can't imagine that is has been eliminated to be honest. It only makes for a safer home in the event of fire.

Only reason you would not need an egress window is if you have an exterior door that leads out of your basement.
