So we spent $16 billion for LIRR because 7 train is congested, instead of increasing frequency of 7 trains.

We have add-ons to every possible thing we can so that the MTA can be funded.

Everyday the 355 to Ronko is crowded with UNPAYING LIRR,MTA employees, complaining about their benefits.
Me, i'm a poor slob who is limited to my transit reimbursement by IRS to $260 a month, LIRR employees whereever they want to go is free.

(besides the fact they don't pay for parking either)

That first part is inaccurate. The signal modernization program for the 7, which is the second line in the system to get it after the L, was funded and is now completed though they’ll probably have kinks to work out. These allows trains to run closer together and have increased frequencies, but it isn’t magic. It’ll basically allow for top frequencies lines in other countries have with modern signal controls.

I do think the East Side Access project was done incredibly poorly. Not just the overruns, delays, and corruption, but the sheer fact that it was a bad plan. It essentially did a lot harder technical work for a lot fewer benefits compared to simply making a much smaller tunnel with much much smaller but multiple stations to through-run with Atlantic Terminal. Making use of the existing 63rd street tunnel and serving another major job center is totally reasonable, but how they’ve gone about it is an incredible waste.
