with corona virus for kids around now, there will be no school this sept.

New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D) rocked the education world — and drew strong criticism from teachers and others — by questioning why school buildings still exist and announcing that he would work with Microsoft founder Bill Gates to “reimagine education,” with technology at the forefront.

Cuomo, who in the past has angered educators by supporting controversial Gates-funded school reforms, said Tuesday that the coronavirus pandemic offers an opportunity to change how students are educated, and he called Gates “a visionary” whose “thoughts on technology and education” should be advanced. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has spent billions of dollars on education reform projects it has conceded did not work as hoped.
Coronavirus in kids doesnt automatically mean school is canceled for fall. He said he doesnt know yet

Agreed currently it is a relatively small number of kids as 5k kids in US get Kawasaki each year.
Hopefully it doesn't become more prevalent. Time will tell.

New York State will continue with online school for the summer. The camp season is still up in the air. It could be abbreviated and start mid-July and run through the end of August in New York. Usually, camps in NY end around mid-August, allowing 2-3 weeks before the start of the school. Other states start school in August. Some summer day camp programs (Nory NYC) are going virtual.

Some colleges already announced that they will have in-person classes (Arizona, Notre Dame). Some are thinking of starting earlier this year at the beginning of August and ending before Thanksgiving.

CDC says 35% of all who get the virus are asymptomatic (and do not feel sick) spreaders/transmitters. Those folks would have no reason to voluntarily get tested (Why would they? They don't feel sick and have no symptoms.)

That 35% never comes up on the radar screen of a notional tracer. How could a tracer attempt to trace somebody he does not know exists?

In recognition of the asymptomatic peculiarity with this virus, some public deniers have embraced involuntarily testing all residents in the entire US (300,000,000+) repeatedly in order to detect all those with the virus. Repeatedly because somebody who tests negative one day can certainly catch the virus the next. They deny we can prudently reopen the economy and return to normalcy otherwise.

I just find it amazing how EVERYTHING now is because of Covid. I almost guarantee the country goes on lock down again by December/January for no reason.

Actually, that is precisely the task that trackers do. If patients A, B, and C are all known to have been buying lottery tickets at the corner of Twelfth Street and Vine at six PM on April first and patients X, Y, and Z all had lunch at Rick's Café at noon on April third they find out that Victor Vector sells lottery tickets at Twelfth St and Vine and ate lunch at Rick's Café on the third at noon.

After he tests positive they can then determine who else had contact with him. They then see that Victor the Vector rides the B-52 bus every afternoon and begin to check out other bus riders and who they may have infected by his virus bombs, testing and quarantining those infected as they follow the contact trail for each.

Most countries with effective tracking operations are using phone based tracking technology which can tell what common locations or contacts have been in close proximity to infected people automatically once the first sick people are identified. Phones that record such encounters get called and directed to be tested as their phones then become links in the system.

That works when a virus spreads slowly and few are infected but in the current situation you have hundreds of potential contacts for each person and each of those contacts have hundreds of potential contacts. Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
