I would like to know if anyone has any advice about moving to the city from Long Island. I am a 25 year old in the real estate profession and want to be where there are a lot of other young ambitious people with better housing options than L.I. The suburbs aren't cutting it anymore! I have looked into NYC & surroundings but they seem way too insanely expensive, congested and dirty. I would greatly appreciate if anyone has suggestions on a great city to move to. (No landlocked cities please) Thanks.
It depends on what you like. I've been there a couple of times, it may be a lot more "Californicated" (apologies to my Golden State friends, but you must know what I mean) than it was when I went there.

I'm moving off Long Island with my boyfriend in a few years to Las Vegas. It's not totally landlocked, since it has Lake Mead by the Hoover Dam, and also Lake Las Vegas. 2 really big lakes. Then it's about a 4-5 hour drive to the Pacific ocean. It's the fastest growing area of the country (the suburbs mostly), and real estate agents probably make a comfortable living. I love it there; it's beautiful and there's always something to do.
