Too late. The slumlords noticed first!

Huntington Station is known for absentee landlords cramming 30+/- illegal alien dayworker men and/or illegal alien gangbangers into single family homes.

There are a few nice neighborhoods scattered in Huntington Station, but it is still too close for comfort to the illegal aliens and slumlords and you better habla espanol if you want to shop in the local stores. Go drive down NY Avenue in Huntington Station and you will think you could be in Central America or Mexico.

I dont care what other people do in their lives. An illegal alien is a human being just like you and I.

who is to say thats not where i live now?

I worked all over long island and yes even in what you consider the SLUM part of HS and it doesnt bother me. There are also some nice parts of HS.

Now, would I live in a beat up run down area? no. Illegal aliens or not.

Anyway, Illegal Aliens is another topic. Thats not what im interested in.

THis is clearly subjective. You asked for opinions, you're going to get them.

I don't consider Huntington Station liveable at this point for the reasons I stated previously. (If the authorities there address the problems, it would change.)

As for other places that are liveable and average $5K in annual property taxes, I cannot think of any off the top of my head on LI, but perhaps others will be able to think of some ideas for you.
