Hello to everybody!
I'm a french guy, living in paris. I've always wanted to live in LA, and actually France is not very interresting for me. So i wanted to go to LA, find a little job in a french restaurant close to the beach in areas like marina del rey or venice and spend few times in here! I wanted to have american opinions about a plan like that. Do you think that it's possible to find a job or like a friend of mine said to me california is full of unemployment?

I think the first thing you need to do is talk to the Embassy. You can not come to America without a work visa. And yes, Ca is full of unemployed right now, even restaurant jobs are hard to find. That being said, do talk to the Embassy. It might also help if you visited Ca a few times.

My opinion is it's a bad plan and you will never do it.

Wow, why so bitter? How do you know what someone will or will never do?? I don't think this is the best of plans, but this type of attitude is uncalled for.

Ceece said it because we see enough posters on here with similar ideas and we know most of them never follow through. A few do, when that happens it can be disaster. Ceece (who I don't even know) is a good poster and rarely negative without a good reason.

You might have to expand your horizons inland, as "working in a French restaurant" and "close to the beach" might not be doable in this economy. Sounds like a noble endeavor to me, but do your homework before making the journey.

Being French will definitely help you getting employment at a French restaurant one would think. If you can get the whole Visa thing sorted out.

getting permission to work is virtually impossible...how do you think you're going to swing that? To work you need a H1b which restricts working to professions where Americans aren't available, working in restaurants doesn't qualify.
