I was just wondering because I know it's suppose to be the hottest area in LA in the summertime. So I didn't know whether that correlated with it not having may gray and june gloom?

yes! it doesn't last most of the day like at the beach, but most mornings in may and june are cloudy and grey in the valley (at least in the parts where i spend most of time like encino and sherman oaks). the nice part is that the clouds don't come back in the evening like at the beach, leaving warm (but not uncomfortable) evenings for bbqing and hanging out in the back yard.

For most of May and June, I have NO doubt I PREFER the weather in the San Fernando Valley to West LA/Santa Monica. More sun, warmer days and evenings (but usually not uncomfortable).

Actually I misunderstood. I meant to say I prefer the Santa Monica/South Bay. The June Gloom just reminds me of my home in Dear Old Blighty, albeit with palm trees.

You will be coming from So. Fla.

I love the So.Fla. winters. They are tough to beat. But I would personally take a the SFV in the summer over a Ft. Lauderdale summer, all day long.

Even in the middle of summer the evenings are usually very comfortable in the valley. It is the dry air...once the sun goes down the temps drop.

To each their own mate. I find a too chilly and depressing.

I've got a good friend who lives right on the coast and he LOVES the june gloom. I have no idea why.

Yes! I HATE it. That's one of the reasons I'm leaving!

I'm probably going to need a jacket. Good thing I kept the ones I had from Texas. Thanks for the heads up!
