No it's not. Sorry. That's not even take home for two people making minimum wage.

In a particularly bad part of town 1 bdrm rent can be 800 a month or less in San Bernardino area. 99 cent only food store is doable. Then you have cooling which is a necessity in SB for at least half the yr I have seen it up to 113. I like the IE but on that wage your life is going to be very hard. If you plan on kids or have them it is a whole other animal.

You would do much better in another state, I looked at some of your other posts and you asked the same question about Alabama and Missouri those states are much cheaper than California and your $175,000 will buy a whole lot more house than it will in California

Is English your 1st language, because these sentences are a bit incoherent.

Do you want to PAY 1500 a month or is that your take home pay?

And you said OUTSIDE California which people seemed to miss. Shouldnt you be in a forum for another state then?

:And if you did mean Los Angeles, why would you think $175,000 would put you in a beautiful suburb?
If that were the case, then everybody and their momma would move to Los Angeles and buy up property

I think California is just too expensive for your income, even if you pay cash for a house. What are you and your wife looking for, good weather, safe neighborhoods, living near a big city, etc? If you want to live on the West Coast, you might consider Southern Oregon, Roseburg and Myrtle Creek have homes in your price range. Or, if you like cold winters, maybe northern Nevada? There are homes in Reno in your price range, but personally I prefer Southern Oregon. If you are open to other parts of the country, then states like Missouri and Tennessee are quite affordable. For you to find a home you can afford in California you would not be living in a desirable area. Would it be possible for you and your family to rent for a while when you get to the US and spend some time looking at areas that might appeal to you? Buying a home is a big investment and you might buy one in an area that you end up hating 6 months later and there is no guarantee that you will be able to sell it.
