"No taxation without representation!" ~Founding Fathers

Let's just not pay sales tax, and starve L.A. of a great deal of their income until they start fixing our streets, etc. If something has a price tag of $4.99, give the cashier a five dollar bill and simply walk out of the store. After all, what will they do about it, call the LAPD? Thanks to Prop 47, walking out the door with something that costs less than $900 or something around there is no longer a crime! You're of course morally obligated to pay the store's price, but the sales tax? Why bother if it's no longer a crime to not do so?

If all of L.A. participates in this tax revolt, we'll eventually "starve the beast" and get a better city in which to live. So to hell with King Georgecetti and his city council of Redcoats, it's time to answer the clarion call of liberty and don't pay your sales tax!

And if possible, dump King Georgecetti's soft serve in L.A. harbor, but we'll discuss that later.

I have long maintained that the sales tax is the most harmful and destructive of all taxes. It is a shame that the tax revolt was not against the sales tax. Without sales taxes there is a lot more business activity and thus more jobs are created. L.A. and California's failed European style fiscal model of sky high taxes on everything except for one particular tax is a failed model.

Haha, I live in LA and my streets get repaved once every two years or less. You must live in a crappy area.

Its hit and miss as to what area streets are repaired/repaved. Its not just in the "nice areas" either the geography of the area kinda plays a part on how bad and/or often streets need repair. Sunset Blvd eastbound from Sepulveda Blvd east all the way behind UCLA and going into Beverly Hills is TERRIBLE. ESPECIALLY the right lane. Also, many of the streets in Westwood near student housing and apartments.

It's still a crime. Try it and tell me how it works out for you.
