My background is Administrative Assistant. I'm looking for a job long distance right now from San Francisco Bay Area to West Los Angekes.

What is the demand from employers right now in LA?

What software? Platform?
PC or Mac?

Are college degrees absolutely required?

For office work, are employers directly hiring or are they using Temp /Staffing Agencies?

Do you think it's possible I can get hired directly as an Administrative Assistant? So I don't have to go to temp agencies. It's not secure enough from my experience.

I wouldn't worry about the systems, platforms, or computer brands. Those are tools, and anyone can be taught to use them.

If you don't have any unique skills above the average AA, you're going to have a difficult time getting employment. Everyone has different requirements for their AA. I share an AA with a few folks and we required applicants to have a background in Accounts Payable. It was quite easy to find her since overqualified individuals are whiling to work an AA job just to get their foot in SF/LA's door.

LA's job market is very competitive, so it may be wise to stay put until you build a strong resume that you can be confident about.

Thanks for your reply.

I have a lot of strong Admin experience and yes there are so many! people applying for the sane job for sure in Los Angeles.

When I lived in LA, I worked a lot, mostly temp but it was hard to find a permanent job and in Burbank, because of only Studios & tought to get in.
I worked temp at a studio in Burbank.
But I want a direct hire now. More steady income.

Just curious to what Employers insist on.

Because-for example in the San Francisco bay area they mean it nowadays when they say require a college degree. Which I do not have.
But I have really good experience.

Maybe I'll stay in SF bay for now until I have even more money saved up, to make the transition easier.

I can't speak for everyone, but tech companies typically have lax requirements when it come to degrees. It's worth connecting with a tech recruiter on LinkedIn and asking some questions for sure.

ok thanks. It seems like in Silicon Valley Tech jobs is where you really have to have a high degree or a Strong! technical background.

But, I will check into your suggestion of connecting with a tech recruiter on LinkedIn.

Thank you
