Yeah I heard about this . $550,000 is nothing though considering construction costs in L.A

Looks like another PR move by the local politicians .

Great idea but I wonder how many home owners want a small cabin like residence on their lot. I don't think I would do it. In fact I know I wouldn't and I wouldn't live in a neighborhood that had them.

I think some people might think it’s cool if they could rent it out on Airbnb and bring in extra income or maybe for a relative to live in or guests or something .. but I doubt there are too many that would want to house mentally ill and /or drug addicted homeless in them .

So, who takes care of the homeless after they move in? They need food, clothing etc. or will they just hit up the homeowner for the rest of their needs?
The concept of shelters, dorm style, doesn't seem to a consideration; it appears the city leaders conversations seem to be about apartments. With the sheer numbers of homeless, there needs to be sheer numbers of housing.
Politicians love to see, and play up, an individual move into an apartment for that feel good moment.
There's way too much self serving bs by politicians and not much action. I don't know if they have thought through the logistics for caring for the homeless once housed. The working homeless should be able to provide for themselves but many can't, or won't do so. Then of course, what about homeless that will migrate here to take advantage of provided housing.
They need to figure out who will be responsible for delivering necessary services to consider an on site director of the housing.
They can't just sweep them off the street into housing and say, ain't we great, look at what we did and our job is done.

I also wonder about the ongoing needs of those people being "hosted" and the rights of the homeowner to boot them if it turns out to be less than ideal. How long will they be obligated to play host?
