Hi,
My mom is looking to buy a home $600-700k in North LA area in order to be closer to more work opportunities. Does anyone have any suggestions on safe places where she can buy a home? She is looking at Granda Hills, Arleta, or North Hollywood area. She ideally wants something that has good freeway access. I am from OC so I don't have much knowledge about this area.

Thanks in advance.

Use Zillow.com, Realtor.com or Trulia.com to see what is available, if anything, in that area. Using Realtor you can also scroll down in the description page of a house to "neighborhood" and clock on it and then on "crime" by the map.

In terms of safety, definitely forget Arleta. North Hollywood also isn't that great. Regardless, both areas are also pretty run down.

Granada Hills is one of the few safe, quiet areas in the Valley where you can still find a home under $700K. Plus, it is right by the 405 / 118 interchange, so good freeway access. Granada Hills is a much better option than Arleta and North Hollywood.

Granada Hills and North Hollywood are fine. I'd also add Burbank, Northridge and Chatsworth.
