Looking for some good neighborood in Santa Monica (low income, apartment)

any suggestion of some good neighborood in Santa Monica where to rent a house or an apartment?

Santa Monica is sort of on the decline. A lot of not so great areas there, plus the amount of homeless is staggering. Stay north of Wilshire Blvd. if you can.

Yes, there are a lot of homeless people, but they mostly keep to themselves and if they do venture out to ask for money, its only usually in the heavily touristy areas (ie the palisades park, promenade and pier). I live in the Ocean Park neighborhood and love it. I'm blocks from the beach as well as Main St (with many bars and restaurants). Venice is very close and I'm also not too far from the touristy areas I previously mentioned. North of Wilshire is very nice, but its also the most expensive area of the city. Beach access from there is also very difficult due to the rather large cliffs. As a whole Santa Monica is very nice! The neighborhoods along Pico Blvd east of the coast are little more rundown, but there are certainly much worse places in LA.

Santa monica has several new apartment buildings, especially in the downtown area.

There are some major projects in planning & under construction which will be very affordable for young professionals. Not designed for low income families as they are mostly studios.

Only a few areas on the south end of Santa Monica, So of the 10 fwy are undesirable. hopefully those areas will be redeveloped as well. Redevelopment of that area will eliminate the undesirable gap between Pico Blvd & the 10 frwy.
