I know the Peninsula is pretty safe but what about crime that occurs right outside its cities' limits? For example; does crime occur to Peninsula residents while they are shopping in San Pedro, Lomita, Torrance, and Lawndale? As safe as the Peninsula Hills are, most people have to come down the hills to go to work, shop, run errands. People also have to drive through other cities (Torrance and Lawndale) in order to even get to the freeway. Is crime that occurs to residents who live in the Palos Verdes Peninsula when they are outside the Peninsula even an issue?

We're originally from somewhere else so it is truly frustrating that for every "nice, safe" city in LA county, it is surrounded by "sketchier" cities. Where are all the "nice, safe, MIDDLE CLASS" cities in LA? The only one we've found is Santa Clarita and it's freakin' 1.5 - 2 hr commute to anywhere in LA!

When we lived there we avoided San Pedro except for the parts around Western Avenue and we never had a problem. I worked in Lomita and shopped often in Torrance and never had a problem. I can't comment on Lawndale. I can't remember anyone I know being a victim of a crime.

We lived on Western Avenue and there were many car burglaries, thefts, home burglaries. We suspect they were done by people living in the area.

We had the same problem finding a nice, safe "Middle Class" city in L.A. with decent schools. That's why we moved to North Carolina. We love it.

theres no real crime issues.. just stick to crenshaw, hawthorne, palos verdes N, or western and you'll never find yourself somewhere you dont need to be

also, all the places you're looking for are in southeast LA county and OC
