Obey the law. Mind your own business. Go to work. Pay your bills. Follow the rules. Be respectful of yourself and others. You shouldn't have any major problems!

However, since you are asking these questions (and anticipating having problems) I would have to assume that you won't be following the above advice.

Essentially, the LAPD is a quasi-military force for the upper class, which is why the LAPD will respond to burglaries, carjackings, or anything else that can threaten the quality of life for the rich, but not to illegal immigration which hurts the middle and working classes.

How absurd, so if somebody was robbing you you would call the local gang members for assistance..
How many people have you meet that dont have a badge that you didnt like, alot I'm guessing.. An A-hole is an A-hole with or without a badge..

Watch Boys in the Hood, Menace II Society, and Crash. They show the true nature of the LAPD.

I've lived herein the LA area for over 30 years and yet to have a problem, if your acting like an idiot when a cop pulls you over then your going to be treated that way or maybe if your a gang-banger you get treated like that but for the regular Angeleno not so. But hey go back to your crack pipe and watch those movies somemore and be a statistic...

(Disclaimer: "Crash" was trash, in my opinion.)
It was trash because? I think Paul Haggis's story was realistic enough.
