As much as everyone in here dislike public transportation(mainly the busses) in LA, many seem to recommend the Big Blue Bus. Is this service cleaner or run a lot better or something? Just curious. Thanks.

the blue bus is santa monica's municipal service. it doesn't cover much territory, and doesn't offer late-night service, but what it does, it does efficiently. you can travel to and from santa monica/venice, palms, westwood, midtown, and places in between. (i can't remember if there is a blue bus that goes downtown, but i don't think so.)

i don't think any conveyance that transports hundreds of bodies in varying states of cleanliness per day is clean, but they are generally not as crowded, and don't smell as bad as MTA busses.

Okay, thanks. I think it goes downtown to Union Station according to their site, but that's the only stop. Was probably going to stay near the west side/Santa Monica when I come next month. So I might end up using it.

To preface what I'm about to say, I've traveled to 3 continents and have lived on both coasts of this country. From my experiences, the big blue bus is the best bus company i've seen in the whole world. If you need to get anywhere on the westside of LA, there is a big blue bus that will take you there.

I love using the Big Blue Bus. It's cheap $.75. It's reliable. It's fairly clean. What more can you ask for?

It's only 75 cents! Really? I had no idea. I usually don't catch it because I don't travel downtown that often or to Santa Monica.

I'm a big fan of leaving my car home regularly. I don't get out to the west side during the daytime but I did ride it a few months ago. I felt like I was on a schoolbus, not Metro bus. I had a great driver, a total joke cracker.

I believe it does go downtown via the freeway, so as long as you're going downtown only and not looking for any other stops it will get you downtown.
