Any healthcare people in here??? I am stuck in Boston. I want leave before Mr Winter moves in. I am a MRI and CT Tech with 5 years experience in a level 1 trauma facility. I am sending my resumes to just about every hospital in the area, and no bites. Are they just hiring loal candidates???? Anybody have any ideas. HELP ! !! !!! ! ! !

I'm a nurse who is heading down to LA in September to check out the work situation- rumour has it there are still lots of nursing jobs, and the evidence certainly points that way (lots of openings advertised!), but I've had not even a nibble either, and I never have trouble getting work. Maybe the culture there is to only hire locally, I don't know, but I'll see how it goes once I'm actually there, my gut tells me that I can probably find something pretty good. If I don't find anything that's fine, I'll head home after a few months (I do contract work right now so I can take the time off to just go and make a trip).

There are placement agencies too, although I want to avoid those to try to get a better job on my own, have you tried one of those? The existence of agencies sometimes makes it hard for independent candidates to find work from out of town, employers pay more for an agency but the agency does all the work for them, so they tend to overuse them.

Check out University of Southern California (USC). They just built a new facility and are looking for 600 people to fill positions. you could also try UCLA medical Center.
