7000 saved up, plus $15/hr? (Los Angeles, Burbank: rent, home, unemployment)

I am planning on moving to Los Angeles in late September. I am employed with a national company, and plan to transfer to a Los Angeles area store. I should have 7000 saved up, along with my job where I make about $15/hr and bring home about $550 a week. Do you guys think I will have enough saved up to move to Los Angeles and live in a decent area close to the city like Burbank or Culver City?

You can do it, but burbank and culver city are far apart.

Where will you work? Try and live close by to save $ and maximize time.

Yeah, you'll need a roommate. 3000k/month is probably the minimum you'll need to bring in to live comfortably alone in WeHo or Culver City or a newer building in Hollywood.

For Burbank you're gonna need about 3500/month.

Was thinking the same. Is that for a 40 hour week? I don't know about other states or areas but in California we have state income tax. Also fed income tax, Social Security tax, and a ton other taxes. Also what do you claim? I would bet your single and paying at a higher rate than someone like me with a wife and 6 kids.

I thought the tax rates were tiered based on your income? I technically earned more per paycheck with my job in California than I do in Phoenix, which has a fixed tax rate for all citizens, even though my annual salary in Arizona is higher than what I earned in California.

It is many places, but even then, only withholding $50 for income taxes, both state and fed plus unemployment tax, something isn't quite fitting here.

By my calculations you'll actually be bringing home about $500 per week. You'll definitely need a roommate, it will be difficult to find a place to live for $720 per month (1/3 of your salary) Burbank and Culver City are great communities, but find out which one is closest to where you'll be working. You definitely want to cut down your commute as much as possible.
